The Canvas Guides are phenomenal and are updated immediately when Canvas updates. It is highly recommended that teachers become very familiar with how to access them and comfortable with returning to use them frequently as a resource. Canvas also has a series of very powerful tutorial videos that are publicly available. Do not waste time reinventing the wheel. Always check first to see what Canvas has made for teacher use.
