Get to know your teacher!
I am Stephanie Dean from Bland, VA. I went to Virginia Tech and earned a degree in Animal and Poultry Sciences with a double emphasis in Livestock and Equine.
What made me decide to become a teacher? My aunt, grandmother, as well as great grandmother were teachers. I grew up helping grade papers and planning lessons. I decided while in college that I wanted to share my love for agriculture and helping others. What better way to do that than to be an agriculture educator?
I have a background in beef cattle and horses. I grew up on a farm where we grew stocker cattle and had a few sheep. I started riding horses in elementary school and got more competitive in high school. Throughout college, I worked on a large cow/calf operation in Blacksburg where I learned a lot about seedstock operations. I have goals of starting my own quality seedstock operation and raising high end horses.
In my spare time, I enjoy riding horses, leatherworking, and taking photos.
I look forward to continuing my career and learning more daily at Northwood High School.
