Gary Janecek is entering his 31st year of teaching and has been teaching in Nederland ISD since 1995. He was named the Nederland High School Director of Secondary Music Education and Head High School Band Director in May of 2023.
Mr. Janecek graduated from West Brook High School in Beaumont and went on to receive his Bachelor of Music degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas where he studied under Dr. Barry Johnson.
Mr. Janecek has the unique opportunity to teach classes at three different campuses in Nederland ISD: Central Middle School, C.O. Wilson Middle School, and Nederland High School. At both middle school campuses, Mr. Janecek teaches the beginner woodwind class (clarinet and saxophone) and also helps teach many students in the Honors Band. At Nederland High School, he conducts the Honors Band and the NHS Marching Band, "The Golden Pride of the Golden Triangle."
Mr. Janecek's middle school and high school bands have consistently received U.I.L. Sweepstakes ratings, and he has had the privilege of starting and teaching many musicians who have gone on to be named TMEA All State Band or Orchestra members.
Mr. Janecek has professional affiliations with the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association.
Mr. Janecek lives in Beaumont with his son, Kellen. He is an active performer and plays saxophone at various venues across the area. On the weekends and in the summer, he enjoys attending sporting events and supporting his son's various teams.
Eric Rose is entering his 13th year of teaching and has been teaching in Nederland ISD since 2013.
Mr. Rose received his Bachelor of Music degree in May of 2013 and his Masters of Education in Administration degree in 2021, both from Lamar University. At Lamar he studied under Dr. Scott Deppe, Dr. Ryan Smith, and Dr. Wayne Dyess.
Rose spent the first 10 years of his career as the head director at Central Middle School in Nederland before moving to NHS in 2023. His bands have consistently received UIL Sweepstakes ratings and the CMS Honors Band was named the Region X Honor Band in every year the contest was held. The Honors Band was named a TMEA Honor Band State Finalist three times with a 9th place finish in 2017 and a 12th place finish in both 2019 and 2022. At Nederland High School, Rose conducts the Symphonic Band, assists with the Concert & Honors Band, and works with the Nederland High School Marching Band. He also has the privilege of teaching beginner band classes at both middle school campuses in Nederland. Rose was named the Central Middle School teacher of the year and Nederland ISD secondary teacher of the year in 2022.
Mr. Rose is an active adjudicator across the state and has professional affiliations with the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, National Band Association, and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association.
Rose lives in Nederland where he grew up and graduated from High School in 2009. He lives with his wife Carly, who is also a band director in the Nederland School District, and his dogs, Cooper & Charlie. They enjoy traveling, visiting with family, streaming shows, and attending sporting events. During his summers, Mr. Rose is on the Lamar University Band Camp Staff and enjoys conducting camp bands and/or teaching the sight-reading elective class.
Justin Hargraves is entering his 11th year of teaching and has been teaching in Nederland ISD since 2019. Prior to teaching in Nederland he spent 4 years teaching in Little Cypress-Mauriceville ISD.
He graduated from Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Music degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas where he studied under Dr. Scott Deppe, Dr. Ryan Smith, and Dr. Wayne Dyess.
Mr. Hargraves is an assistant at Nederland High School and teaches beginner classes at both middle school campuses. He also works with the honor band classes at both middle schools. At the high school he teaches the Concert Band and assists with the Marching Band.
Mr. Hargraves bands have consistently received U.I.L. Sweepstakes ratings at both the middle school and high school level.
Hargraves lives in Nederland with his two dogs Landry and Macie. He is a loud and proud Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoys watching them play each weekend during the fall.
