START LEARNING TODAY
Hello Friends,
July has already been a full and productive month of building, restoring, teaching, creating, and preparing for what is ahead.
This season has reminded me that freedom is not only something we celebrate as a nation. Through Jesus Christ, we can also experience freedom from condemnation, fear, spiritual bondage, discouragement, and the things that have held us back from becoming who God has called us to be.
Behind the scenes, I have been rebuilding educational pathways, completing new courses, creating ministry resources, refining wellness-support materials, developing new PENothecary™ collections, restoring family memories, and preparing seasonal products for the Backyard Herbal Farmstand.
Whether you know me through Natural Health Ministries Education Center, the PENothecary™, women’s ministry, herbal wellness education, Junk Journal Ministry, Herbalists Without Borders, the Backyard Herbal Farmstand, or That’s Just Penny, thank you for being part of this journey.
There is so much happening this month, and I am excited to share it with you.
July has been a month of reflecting on:
✅ Freedom through Jesus Christ
✅ Faith, family, and community
✅ Honoring the lives and memories of those we love
✅ Growing in wisdom and spiritual discernment
✅ Caring for the whole person—spirit, soul, and body
✅ Creating with purpose
✅ Preparing for the months ahead
✅ Walking in the calling God has placed upon our lives
One of the strongest messages on my heart this month has been that our bodies were wonderfully designed by God, but our bodies are not our healer.
God is our healer.
Jesus Christ provided the ultimate provision for the healing and restoration of the whole person. True healing is not limited to the physical body. It also reaches the inward person—the spirit, soul, mind, heart, and life.
One of my largest July projects has been continuing the rebuilding and reorganization of the Natural Health Ministries Education Center.
Following the loss of our former learning platform, I have been working diligently to establish the PENothecary™ Membership website as our primary educational learning hub.
Current projects include:
• Updating the complete course catalog
• Refining the NHMEC learning pathways
• Organizing courses by educational level
• Updating course numbers and descriptions
• Creating student orientation materials
• Clarifying educational boundaries and scope of practice
• Developing required-reading assignments
• Creating module worksheets and student activities
• Updating diploma and practitioner pathways
• Preparing student handbooks and support resources
• Creating printable educational materials
• Developing additional video and website instruction
NHMEC is a private, faith-centered herbal and natural wellness education center. Our programs are educational and non-licensure in nature.
Our mission continues to be:
The NHMEC learning pathway is being reorganized to provide students with a clearer progression from foundational education through advanced and diploma-level studies.
The pathway includes areas such as:
Students begin by building a strong foundation in:
• Natural health education
• Biblical faith and wellness
• Biblical herbalism
• Herbalist identity and development
• Holistic nutrition
• Biblical nutrition
• The Holistic P.E.N. Way™ Method
• Professional communication and soft skills
Applied courses help students begin using foundational knowledge through practical herbal and wellness education.
Topics may include:
• Kitchen herbalism
• Herbal preparations
• Family herbal wellness
• Community herbal education
• Flower essences
• Faith-based wellness ministry
• Anatomy and physiology foundations
Advanced courses focus on deeper herbal knowledge, wellness education, client communication, body-system support, and evidence-informed herbal study.
The fourth level is being developed for students pursuing comprehensive diploma or practitioner-level herbal wellness education.
This includes expanded study, required reading, case-study thinking, ethics, legal boundaries, practicum development, client education, and professional preparation.
The Biblical Herbalism Foundations course was completed and refined during July.
The course now includes eight lessons covering:
• Biblical foundations of herbalism
• The identity of a Christian herbalist
• Honoring the Creator rather than worshiping creation
• Spiritual discernment and occult boundaries
• The Good Samaritan model of compassionate care
• Prayer, Scripture, and faith-centered wellness
• Spirit, soul, and body wellness
• Biblical foods, herbs, oils, and plants
• How to study herbs responsibly
• Women, healing, and restoration in Scripture
• Herbal safety and educational boundaries
A 50-question open-book final assessment was also developed to help students review and demonstrate their understanding of the course material.
Another major July project has been the continued development of:
This comprehensive herbal education program is being developed to take students beyond simply following herbal protocols.
Students will learn how to understand herbs, research plants, evaluate safety, recognize herbal actions, study body systems, communicate responsibly, and develop their own materia medica.
Course development has included:
• Student orientation and safety
• Plant identification and botany basics
• Herbal safety principles
• Beginner herbal preparations
• Herbal energetics
• Herbal actions and affinities
• Body systems for herbalists
• Materia medica development
• Herbal history
• Understanding what qualifies as an herb
• Applied preparation laboratories
• Phytochemistry and herbal research
• Legal and ethical practice
• Client communication
• Case-study thinking
• Teaching and community herbalism
Required-reading assignments and key-term lists are also being created for each module.
This diploma is intended to help students become thoughtful, responsible, faith-centered herbal wellness educators—not simply collectors of herbal recipes.
The PENothecary™ continues to grow as the main educational and community hub for Natural Health Ministries Education Center.
Members can receive access to:
🌿 Herbal education
🌿 Faith-centered wellness classes
🌿 Workshops and demonstrations

July has also included the development of the:
This program is being designed primarily for teen and adult herbal learners who enjoy discovery-based learning.

• Herbal education
• Handmade paper goods

The August box is currently in development and may include a set of two small glass votive candles along with seasonal herbal and creative items.
Client education and wellness-support resources have also been a major part of July.
I have been refining Holistic P.E.N. Way™ educational wellness reports and client handouts related to:
• Digestive wellness
• Gut terrain balance
• Liver and gallbladder support
• Mineral and nutritional wellness
• Blood-sugar support
• Adrenal and stress patterns
• Nervous-system wellness
• Herbal sensitivities
• Seasonal wellness planning
• Educational Fullscript suggestions
• Phased herbal-support plans
• Biofeedback-interpreted stress markers
• Cellular Healing Timeline educational interpretations
Several client protocols were revised this month to account for biofeedback-interpreted sensitivity patterns, including sensitivity to herbs within the mint family.
Herbs such as tulsi, basil, lemon balm, lavender, oregano, thyme, and mint were carefully reviewed and removed where appropriate. Alternative educational suggestions were developed using non-mint-family options.
Client materials continue to emphasize that biofeedback and wellness reviews are educational tools. They are not medical diagnoses and are not intended to replace care from a licensed medical provider.
Additional July client resources have included:
• Simplified phase-by-phase product handouts
• Educational wellness-support protocols
• Client pickup lists
• Supplement organization sheets
• Herbal sensitivity revisions
• Fullscript plan refinements
• BioWater and glycerite planning
• Digestive, liver, sinus, adrenal, and immune-support education
• Safety language and client disclaimers
My goal is to make wellness education easier for clients to understand while maintaining responsible educational boundaries.
The Backyard Herbal Farmstand has been busy developing seasonal, small-batch products.
Current offerings and product ideas include:
• Blackberry
• Strawberry
• Grape
• Dark cherry
• Watermelon rind
• Acacia dragon fruit with collagen
• Pineapple mango with probiotics

A new handmade collection concept has also been taking shape.

• Botanical glycerites
• Bath teas
• Linen sprays
• Candles
• Handmade soap

Possible themed collections include:

🏡 Farmhouse Home Collection
📖 Faith and Journaling Collection

These collections will allow herbal living, creativity, faith, and traditional handmade skills to come together in one place.
Natural Health Ministry of Madison County, Kentucky, continues its connection with Herbalists Without Borders through community preparedness, education, and outreach.
Current areas of focus include:
• Community wellness education
• Disaster-relief preparedness
• Hygiene and personal-care kits
• First-aid kit education
• Herbal community-care resources

The Backyard Herbal Farmstand has also served as a local connection point for gathering community-care and disaster-relief supplies.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, volunteered, prayed, shared information, or supported these outreach efforts.
July has been a powerful month of studying the Word of God and developing new women’s ministry teachings.
Messages developed this month include:
Based upon Romans 8, this teaching explores:
• Freedom from condemnation
• The law of the Spirit of life
• The Spirit helping our infirmities
• The Spirit dwelling within the believer
• Spiritual life and renewal
• The difference between condemnation and righteousness
Based upon 2 Corinthians 4, this message explores:
• Carrying the life of Jesus
• The inward woman being renewed day by day
• Faith in the midst of affliction
• Speaking according to the spirit of faith
• Looking beyond temporary circumstances
• Allowing the life of Christ to be seen through us
This July Bible-study theme focuses on:
• Freedom through Christ
• Letting go of spiritual bondage
• Renewing the mind
• Living according to God’s Word
• Walking in faith rather than fear
• Remembering the price Jesus paid for our freedom
Teaching transcripts, sermon covers, prayers, handouts, Bible-journaling pages, and presentation materials have been created to accompany these messages.
Another message strongly placed upon my heart this month is:
Scientifically, the body has many remarkable restorative and protective processes. Spiritually, however, Scripture directs our faith toward God.
Jesus Christ is the provision given by God for the healing and restoration of the whole person.
The tripartite person includes:
• Spirit
• Soul
• Body
We should care for the physical body, nourish it, rest it, and steward it wisely. However, we must never elevate the creation above the Creator.
God remains our healer, our source, and our hope.
The Junk Journal Ministry continues using creativity as a tool for prayer, reflection, storytelling, encouragement, and Scripture study.
July projects have included:
• Walking in Freedom Bible-study materials
• Scripture journaling cards
• Dragonfly and wildflower designs
• Red poppy collections
• Vintage July floral papers
• File-folder templates
• Journaling tags
• Matching sticker sheets
• Scripture cards about freedom
• Sermon covers
• Handmade journal pages
• Pocket-envelope templates
• Seasonal scrapbook papers
The purpose of this ministry is not simply to make beautiful paper projects. It is to create a place where women can slow down, spend time with God, preserve meaningful memories, and creatively engage with Scripture.
July has also been filled with new printable and handmade design projects.
These have included:
• Dragonflies
• Red poppies
• Summer flowers
• Vintage papers
• Freedom-themed Scriptures
• Journaling cards
• Tags and stickers
• Penguins
• Polar bears
• Snow animals wearing winter hats
• Children’s activity pages
• Teen activity pages
• Stickers
• Pocket envelopes
• Matching scrapbook paper
• Yellow bath-toy ducks
• White winter hats
• Children’s worksheets
• Sticker sheets
• Scrapbook paper
• Pocket-envelope templates
A new Farmhouse Journal design was also developed with a simple black botanical image and transparent-background elements for future journal and product use.
Creative educational projects have also included personalized homeschool designs for:
• Academy — Fourth Grade
• Academy — Sixth Grade
These projects celebrate home education and allow each child to have a learning space and identity created especially for them.
Independence Day is an especially meaningful time for my family.
My father loved fireworks and looked forward to the Fourth of July. He would gather everyone together, find the perfect place to watch the fireworks, and smile from ear to ear.
The Lord called him home on Independence Day, making the day both a celebration and a time of remembrance.
This month, I worked on restoring family photographs and newspaper memories connected to my father, William Lane, lovingly remembered as Chief Lane.
To him, I was “Pumpkin.”
Preserving these memories has been one of the most personal and meaningful creative projects of July.
That’s Just Penny continues to serve as a home for the many different parts of my work and ministry.
