Getting Started with NHMEC

Welcome to Natural Health Ministries Education Center.

NHMEC is designed to make continuing education in herbalism, natural wellness, biblical wellness, nutrition, homesteading, and related areas accessible without a traditional tuition-based school structure.

Educational learning is provided through the private PENothecary™ Learning Hub.

There Is No Separate NHMEC Tuition

NHMEC does not charge separate tuition for Classes, Courses, or Diploma Programs included within the PENothecary™ Learning Hub.

Your active PENothecary™ Membership provides access to the NHMEC educational opportunities made available through the Learning Hub, subject to any applicable prerequisites, program requirements, and availability.

In simple terms:

Your PENothecary™ Membership Is Your Educational Access.

There is not an additional traditional tuition charge simply because you choose to take a Class, continue into a Course, or complete an available NHMEC Diploma Program.

How Do I Begin?

Step 1 — Join PENothecary™

Begin by becoming an active member of the PENothecary™ Learning Hub.

Your membership provides your entry into NHMEC's private learning environment.

Step 2 — Complete Welcome & Orientation (THIS CAN BE FOUND INSIDE THE PENOTHECARY LEARNING HUB)

All new students should begin with:

Orientation explains:

• How PENothecary™ works

• How to locate Classes and Courses

• Diploma Program requirements

• Student responsibilities

• Assignments and assessments

• Academic integrity

• Student support

• Educational boundaries

• Scope of practice

• NHMEC policies

Students entering a structured Diploma Program must complete any orientation and prerequisite requirements identified for that program.

Choose How You Want to Learn

Once inside PENothecary™, students may explore available educational opportunities.

CLASSES

Individual learning experiences focused on specific subjects.

COURSES

More comprehensive studies made up of related learning experiences.

DIPLOMA PROGRAMS

Structured programs with defined curriculum, assignments, assessments, and completion requirements.

Start with a Class.
Grow through a Course.
Go deeper with a Diploma Program.

You are not required to pursue a Diploma Program simply because you are a PENothecary™ member.

Learn according to your interests and educational goals.

Membership & Educational Costs

PENothecary™ Membership

PENothecary™ membership provides access to the private Learning Hub and the NHMEC educational opportunities included with membership.

There is no separate NHMEC tuition charge for the included educational offerings.

Students are responsible for maintaining any membership requirements necessary to access the Learning Hub.

Some learning activities may recommend or require books, supplies, herbs, equipment, ingredients, or other materials. When applicable, those requirements will be identified within the individual Class, Course, or Program.

NHMEC Professional Registry

The NHMEC Professional Registry is optional and is separate from general PENothecary™ membership and educational completion.

A student or graduate does not have to join the Professional Registry simply to learn through NHMEC or complete eligible educational requirements.

Students or graduates who wish to apply for NHMEC Professional Registry recognition must meet the applicable requirements and pay the separate Registry fee.

Registry participation is not included in PENothecary™ membership.

Professional Registry recognition is an internal NHMEC educational/professional recognition and does not constitute government licensure, outside board certification, or authorization to practice a regulated profession.

Professional Mentorship

Want Help Taking the Next Professional Step?

Completing your NHMEC education does not mean that every student's professional journey will look the same.

Some graduates may simply use their education personally, within their family, ministry, community education, homestead, or existing work.

Others may want to explore additional professional opportunities such as:

• Outside certification

• Board certification where applicable

• Professional association membership

• Business development

• Professional liability insurance

• Additional continuing education

• State or local requirements

• Licensing or registration where applicable

• Professional credentialing through outside organizations

For students who want assistance navigating those next steps, Professional Mentorship with Min. Penny Lane Whittemore may be available.

The mentorship process helps the student research and understand possible next steps based upon the student's education, goals, intended services, location, and the requirements of outside organizations.

Important: NHMEC Does Not Issue Outside Credentials

Outside certification, board certification, licensing, insurance, association membership, examinations, applications, registrations, or other third-party professional services are not issued by NHMEC.

Any fees required by an outside certification board, professional organization, licensing authority, insurance company, testing organization, association, or other provider are the student's responsibility and are paid directly to that outside organization or provider.

NHMEC does not collect those outside fees and cannot guarantee acceptance, certification, licensure, insurance eligibility, registry approval, or another credential issued by a third party.

Mentorship provides education, guidance, organization, and support through the process; it does not replace the requirements or decisions of an outside credentialing, licensing, insurance, or regulatory organization.

Professional Mentorship is an optional service available to approved NHMEC Professional Registrants. After becoming a Professional Registrant, a registrant may purchase Professional Mentorship for a one-time fee of $50. The mentorship fee is separate from PENothecary™ membership and Professional Registry fees.

Professional Mentorship

This is for students or graduates who want guidance taking their education into professional next steps.

Mentorship may include guidance related to outside certification, professional organizations, insurance, business preparation, licensing or registration requirements where applicable, and other professional-development considerations.

Outside Certification, Licensing & Insurance

These come from organizations outside NHMEC.

Requirements and fees are determined by those organizations and are the student's responsibility.

Important Educational Notice

Natural Health Ministries Education Center is a private, faith-based, non-licensure educational institution.

NHMEC education does not itself grant state licensure, medical licensure, veterinary licensure, or governmental authorization to practice a regulated profession.

NHMEC does not guarantee that completion of a Class, Course, Diploma Program, Professional Registry process, or mentorship will qualify a student for outside certification, licensure, insurance, employment, or professional recognition.

Requirements for professional certification, licensing, insurance, business operation, and scope of practice vary by profession, organization, jurisdiction, and location.

Students and graduates are responsible for verifying and meeting the requirements applicable to their individual circumstances.
