The Day of Silence

The Day of Silence is an annual day created by a group of students at the University of Virginia in 1996, where students spread awareness about LGBTQ+ people who were silenced and were unable to speak up for themselves.

At the beginning of the day, students who are participating will take a vow of silence and will remain silent till the silence is broken at the end of the school day.

The Day of Silence is hosted in solidarity with anyone who feels silenced due to their gender, sexuality, or romantic affiliation.

Sign up form will be posted here in the Spring!
