Visit To Children’s centre in L.R Nagar
IEEE, NHCE Women in Engineering Affinity Group in association with IEEE, NHCE Student Branch, organized a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity in honour of International Women’s Day to uphold the core tenets of WIE affinity group.
A visit to Children’s centre in L.R Nagar was organised for the office bearers and volunteers of IEEE Women in Engineering AG in association with Pandateens Youth Community on 11th March, 2023 to commemorate the occasion of Women’s Day.
A sequence of activities was meticulously planned by the volunteers with the intention of bringing out the best in each child. The Childrens’ centre consisted of 40 children of different ethnicities hence the volunteers started with one-on-one interaction with them. The schedule was designed to include four separate activities starting with the introduction round. All the children were made to sit in a circle and introduce themselves one by one while also talking about their interests. This helped form an initiation towards developing qualities like self-awareness, confidence and communication skills amongst them.
The next activity to add to the enthusiasm was a game of passing the parcel. The children plunged in to participate and played the game where the winner had to dance, sing, or recite. They had a fun time doing this with the volunteers.
The third activity in order was a presentation by the volunteers about the significance of women’s day. The children attentively listened to the speakers as they spoke about the topic. The session concluded with an interactive activity where the children were asked to share ways in which they have helped the women in their lives. The objective of this presentation was to instil a very important idea about women empowerment in their young impressionable minds.
The final activity was a general knowledge quiz in which all participants were asked questions covering a wide range of topics. Overall, this proved to be a fun and engaging way to inspire healthy competition and bring out the participants' competitive spirit.
The day's session ended on a positive note, with the children asking the volunteers questions about their education and expressing their interest in pursuing similar paths. The volunteers said their goodbyes as the children marched out with a wholesome experience.
