On 26th of May, 2023, the inauguration of the IEEE Sensors Council was held at New Horizon College of Engineering. The event began at 10:00 AM with the Curtain Rise by the chief guest, Mr. Puneeth Kumar Mishra, Chair IEEE MTT-S Council Bangalore Section, Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Dean-QASDC, NHCE, Dr. Rajesh G, Faculty Advisor IEEE MTT-S Chapter, Dr. Aravinda K, Faculty Advisor IEEE Sensors Council.
The event was attended by around 60 student participants as well as faculty members and other HODs. The Faculty Advisor, Dr. Rajesh G addressed the students and motivated the office bearers to lead the chapter to success. The chief guest, Mr. Puneeth Kumar Mishra, then addressed the gathering and congratulated the Chapter on its inauguration. He discussed how the IEEE MTT-S Council can significantly advance the field's research, understanding, and cooperation.
The workshop covered topics such as the role of Space Antenna Systems, Satellite Monitoring, and other related discussions. The speaker discussed how space antenna systems are extensively utilized for satellite monitoring, facilitating the acquisition of data on various parameters. Antennas are crucial for receiving and transmitting signals from satellites, enabling the collection of valuable information for analysis. Signal strength sensors provide insights into signal quality and reception, ensuring efficient communication with satellites.
Frequency sensors measure the frequency bands used for satellite communication, aiding in optimizing transmission and reception processes. Beamforming sensors help in directing and focusing the antenna's signal, enhancing signal strength and reducing interference. The workshop encouraged active participation, allowing participants to enhance their understanding and exchange their knowledge and expertise in space antenna systems.
The event concluded with the vote of thanks by the Chair of IEEE MTT-S New Horizon College of Engineering, Ms. Ankita Shetti, who thanked the chief guest and workshop speaker, Mr. Puneeth Kumar Mishra for his valuable contributions. She also thanked the participants for their active participation and interest in the MTT-S Society Chapter. In conclusion, the workshop on "Space Antenna System" and the founding of the IEEE MTT-S Council both met with great success.
