IEEE Sensors Council Inaugration

On 11th of March, 2023, the inauguration of the IEEE Sensors Council was held at New Horizon College of Engineering. The event began at 10:00 AM with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, Mr. Sumit Soman, Chair IEEE Sensors Council Bangalore Section,Mr, Chandrashekhar D, Vice President of Engineering Ambee along with the Branch Advisor, Dr. Rajesh G and Chapter Advisor, Dr. Aravinda K.

The event was attended by around 65 student participants as well as faculty members and other HODs. The Chapter Advisor, Dr. Aravinda K addressed the students and motivated the office bearers to lead the chapter to success. The chief guest, Mr. Sumit Soman, then addressed the gathering and congratulated the Chapter on its inauguration. He discussed how the IEEE Sensors Council can significantly advance the field's research, understanding, and cooperation.

The inauguration ceremony was followed by a workshop on “Sensors used in Climatic Intelligence”. The workshop covered topics such as the role of Climate Monitoring, Oceanic Monitoring other related discussions. He spoke about how sensors are widely used for climate monitoring, enabling the collection of data on various climatic variables. Temperature sensors provide valuable information on changes in local and global temperature patterns.

Precipitation sensors measure rainfall and snowfall, which are critical for assessing water availability and flood risk. Humidity sensors help track moisture levels in the atmosphere, contributing to understanding the water cycle and the formation of clouds. Wind sensors measure wind speed and direction, aiding in analysing weather patterns, storm development, and wind energy potential. The workshop was interactive and provided a platform for the participants to learn and share their knowledge and expertise.

The event concluded with the vote of thanks by the Chair of IEEE Student Branch New Horizon College of Engineering, Mr. Anzar, who thanked the chief guest and workshop speaker, Mr. Chandrashekar D for his valuable contributions. He also thanked the participants for their active participation and interest in the Computer Society Chapter.

In conclusion, the workshop on "Sensors used in Climatic Intelligence" and the founding of the IEEE Sensors Council both met with great success.
