On 10th October 2022, IEEE, NHCE Women in Engineering Affinity Group in association with IEEE, NHCE Student Branch, organized a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity on the occasion of IEEE Day.
An NGO visit was exclusively organized for the office bearers and volunteers of IEEE Women In Engineering AG of NHCE on the first day of IEEE week to Madhu Mansion Charitable Trust on the 10th of October, 2022. The volunteers eagerly created a list of activities to be carried out for the orphanage's children. There were 45 kids living in the orphanage, all of whom were eager to learn and interact with the volunteers.
At the start of the event, there was an ice-breaker session where all of the volunteers spoke to the kids one on one and got to know them. Three activities were carried out at the venue. First activity for the children was an interactive session on various scientific topics such as creation of the solar system, planets and their moons, how to go into the outer space and how to become an astronaut. The young audience took an active part in the discussion and posed some excellent questions, to which the volunteers provided in-depth answers.
The second activity involved teaching the students paper origami. All participants received origami papers, and the volunteers led a workshop that was incredibly engaging and creative for the kids. The volunteers showed the kids how to make paper fish and rabbits. Everyone was in awe of the inventiveness that was demonstrated.
The next activity challenged the kids to draw their hearts out using a creativity kit that contained pencils, erasers, sharpeners, colour pencils, scale pencils, and colour pencils.
The creativity kits were handed out to the children and they produced some incredibly wonderful artwork.
All the volunteers bid goodbye to each child as the session came to a close. Without a doubt, the event was really wholesome and had warmed our hearts.
