The IEEE NHCE Student Branch conducted a treasure hunt named “Treasurequipo” on the 13th of October 2022. The treasure hunt was designed to accommodate eight teams in the event.
Chits were hidden at key locations throughout the college. Teams were supposed to find hidden chits with the help of clues in each of the chits. Each team was designated a color code and a volunteer who would help guide the teams and watch over them as they hunt down the chits. The volunteer would also note down the time on a stopwatch and lap it every time a team found a proper chit. Teams were only required to hunt down chits about their color code and team number, if they failed to do so they were to be corrected by the volunteers. Each chit would contain the whereabouts of the next location (in the form of a cryptic message) and eventually would lead teams to the final destination.
Eight teams were divided into two sets with each set having a different array of locations (Umbrella canteen, Gate 2, Dance Studio, Students' parking lot, etc.). Teams within a set had chits placed at jumbled locations to prevent communication between themselves and to preserve the secrecy of the locations. The volunteers were only supposed to provide a hint about the whereabouts of the chits in case the teams asked for help, by adding a minute or two to the team’s time check. Successively adding twice the time added for their previous clue. Each clue harder than the previous one.
The event started at 2 PM and one team member from every team was required to do fifteen push-ups to obtain the first clue. Teams started with their first clues and started heading towards their respective locations. A few teams stumbled upon difficulties and were helped by the volunteers. Guiding teams and watching them hunt down the clues was fun and exciting. The volunteers were organized and helped their respective teams. The event helped teams to think dynamically and solve clues to find their respective destinations.
The event ended at four p.m. when all teams were done hunting clues. Finally, the students shared their experiences and feedback with the organizers. Providing a mesmerizing experience to the participants, and a creative break-through for the organizers making it an efficient way to combine the age-old charade of finding a piece of historic value by a group of meticulous explorers with the modern sciences and a way to explore the campus.
