IEEE DAY CELEBRATIONS

IEEE day was a never-seen-before extravagant compilation of numerous IEEE activities pooled into one week. Our goal was to achieve an immaculate audience and engage them in the plethora of events planned as well as to appeal to more students and communicate to them about the benefits of joining IEEE. The activities were held from 11-15 October, each day having engaging events for the students. The purpose of this was to teach them the importance of balance in academics and extracurriculars, skills that couldn’t be taught in closed enclosed classrooms

On the first day (11 October), we started strong with an interactive, creativity workshop. The event started off with ice-breaking sessions and brainteasers moving on to the speeches about creativity in engineering. The speakers were none other than the leading examples of the IEEE NHCE student branch.

The workshop focused on enriching the students on 7 essential skills for an engineer such as aptitude, problem-solving, communication, etc. The students also enthusiastically participated in multiple activities making it a wonderful event for the students and volunteers alike.

The second day had an NHCE twist on the classic game Air crash using Scientists as our celebrities and compelling students to learn about the importance of Scientists. It was conducted on the 12th of October from 2:30 onwards.

The event had an upsurge in participation and an alarming passion to learn about Engineering, Scientists, and other historical figures who dedicated themselves to bringing humanity to this stage. Students learned how to voice their opinion in a strategic, civil manner and the importance of Scientists and their works.

IEEE NHCE conducted a Treasure hunt on the 13th of October “Treasurequipo”. This event was the most anticipated event as this, awarded IEEE memberships for the winning team. The event had begun at 2 and closed at 4 when the winners were announced. This helped the students snap decision-making skills and think dynamically in the heat of the moment. A literal breath-taking event!!

On the final day (14th October) the IEEE NHCE Student Branch, on account of IEEE Day Celebrations organized RangIEEEN, an open-air art competition.

A 3-hour art competition with no restrictions on their pieces, allowing for full-fledge creativity, compelling the students to test themselves artistically.

The competition was a sight to witness as young creative artists were spread across the campus in groups working. As pre-Diwali celebrations and a way to have a relaxing event after the workshops and comparatively competitive events, the students took this event as a chance to relax and look back as a day to remember as they celebrated with IEEE. The art pieces that were produced were truly a sight to see.

The final event was also held on the 14th of October, IEEE, NHCE Women in Engineering Affinity Group in association with IEEE, NHCE Student Branch on the occasion of IEEE day, organized an event called “Take De Bait”.

The event facilitated the students with a platform to showcase their public speaking and presentation skills through debate. It also gave them a chance to show off their debating skills and question their knowledge on topics through various domains from technology to social issues to current affairs. This event put the judges and participants on the edge of their seats as students had forward persuasive arguments leading to nail-biting tie-breakers. All in all an event to watch.
