Having interests outside of academia is healthy (I've been told). I dabble in photography in my spare time, which is a nice creative outlet and I find the methodological focus needed for developing and printing in the darkroom can be quite meditative.
I used to do landscape photography during my PhD but a series of cross-continent moves necessitated reducing personal belonging - some of my photos (taken with digital cameras) from that time can be seen further below this page. An unintentional signing up to a tintype photography course during my postdoc in Dublin led me down the rabbit hole of analogue and although doing large-format wet-plate collodion process is still a pipe dream (I don't have the space for a proper home darkroom), experimenting with film has been quite fun too.
Photography is really for myself, but I catalogue it on instagram for those curious.
