I contend that education is nurturing of educated people with desirable human qualities by means of self-development for promotion of human well-being. My educational philosophy comprises four overriding tenets: everyone is willing to learn, everyone is unique, everyone is equal, and everyone is capable.
Goals
A caring cultivator of all-round growth
An inspirational co-constructor of knowledge
A committed role model of professionalism.
I reckon that every student, irrespective of his/her cultural and socioeconomic background, ought to be provided with equitable opportunities to excel personally and actualize their latent potentials; teachers are responsible for catering for students’ needs by devising one-of-a-kind and individualized pedagogy in accordance with students’ multiple intelligences, learning styles, and natural dispositions.
Communication being a requisite skill for all respects of holistic development, language education is unequivocally an indispensable segment of basic education. Being a lingua franca in the global village, the English language is construed as a powerful tool for communication; I thereby aspire to heighten students’ language learning motivation and subsequently ameliorate their English proficiency for the sake of cultivation of desirable human qualities in them.
Concerning English Language instruction, I am in favour of the communicative language teaching, task-based language teaching, and project-based learning approaches. Concept-based grammar instruction integrated with cognitive linguistics, strategy-based reading and listening instruction, genre-based writing instruction, awareness-raising speaking instruction, vocabulary instruction zeroing on form, meaning, and use, and assessment for/as learning are bedrocks moulding my teaching practice.
I construe myself as a lifelong learner. Recognizing that learning is an ongoing process out of emergence of new knowledge, I long for expanding my own world vision perpetually and endeavor to enrich my knowledge across distinct disciplines. Being bilingual and trilingual, I have developed a strong foundation that will unequivocally be an asset to my future learning endeavors. It is hoped that my positive attitude towards lifelong learning will enable me to be a desirable role model for my students.
