Drive Templates

Google Drive provides a number of file types which can be used to help groups with their communications and project management.

The major tools include a variety of pre set templates for the most commonly used types eliminating the need to generate new versions all the time.

Like all other components of Drive, each item can be shared with others, published, or downloaded into other formats

Communications Tools

Document Templates

The Google Doc format also has a wide range of Templates available, including:

  • Letters
  • Brochures
  • Project Proposals
  • Meeting Notes
  • Newsletters
  • Reports

To access these go to the Document Template Gallery.

To get to the Gallery from Drive, click on the New > Document > From Template.

This will open a new blank Doc, to use templates when you're in a file. Click File > New > From template. Then select the Template Gallery link to open the Gallery.

Forms Templates

The Google Forms that are part of Drive allow you to use pre-designed template forms, and edit these to suit your needs.

All the Forms can be set to record the information on a Spreadsheet, which you can share with other users to view or edit.

Forms can be embedded into web pages or emails, and set to send an email when submitted.

To see the available Form Templates use the Forms Template Gallery.

To get to the Gallery from Drive, click on the New > Form > From Template.

To use templates when you're in a file. Click File > New > From template. Then select the Template Gallery link to open the Gallery.

Template Forms Examples

The Forms Templates include;

  • Event Registration Form
  • RSVP Form
  • Event Evaluation Form,
  • Feedback Form,
  • Contact Form and more.

Each Form can be modified to suit your project or group need, such as Membership Forms, Expressions of Interest for projects, Surveys and more.

Project Management Tools

Spreadsheet Templates

The Google Sheets system also has templates available, including:

  • To Do List
  • Budgets
  • Schedules and Calendars
  • Invoices
  • Time Sheets
  • Expense Reports

To access these go to the Spreadsheets Template Gallery.

To get to the Gallery from Drive, click on the New > Sheet >From Template. This will open the templates gallery.

To use templates when you're in a file. Click File > New > From template. Then select the Template Gallery link to open the Gallery.

There is also an additional template, the Event Management Template to plan and manage events such as forum, fundraiser, public etc.
