Young Filmmakers Workshop
Aims to provide young and growing film talents in Malaysia an unprecedented platform to learn directly from Southeast Asian established filmmakers.
All participants' ages were below 26. The Southeast Asian mentors will share their experience to them in Producing, Directing, Assistant Director, Editing, Sound, Cinematography and Production Design.
In the end, two of the potentials Malaysian young filmmakers will represent Malaysia at the FLY Workshop by ASEAN-ROK.
1st Young Filmmakers Workshop (6-14 June, 2015）
NNW organised The 1st Young Filmmakers Workshop with FINAS in collaboration with Da Huang Pictures.
8-day workshop, 21 young Malaysian filmmaker participants, 5 mentors from Southeast Asia. (Aditya Assarat, Nandita Solomon, Carlo Mendoza, Warren Santiago, Lee Chatametikool)
Participants produce three short films guided by mentors through workshops on producing, directing, cinematography, editing and sound.
2nd Young Filmmakers Workshop (19-26 Aug, 2016）
The 2nd Young Filmmakers Workshop returns to further focus on nurturing young and emerging filmmakers in Malaysia.
8-day workshop, 14 young Malaysian filmmaker participants, 6 prominent mentors from Southeast Asia. (John Torres, Tan Bee Thiam, Sam Cochaputsup, Kenneth Raj, Rasiguet Sookkarn, Pete Teo)
3rd Young Filmmakers Workshop (19-26 Aug, 2017）
8-day workshop, 12 young Malaysian filmmaker participants, 4 prominent mentors from Southeast Asia. (Davy Chou, Anocha Suwichakornpong, Sidi Saleh, Carlo Francisco Manatad)
Participants were cultivated in an intensive & in-depth training covering many aspects in film-production like Directing, Editing, Producing and Cinematography.
Young Filmmakers Workshop (Producing)
(26-30 Apr, 2021）
5-day online workshop sponsored by FINAS, 5 feature film projects, 10 emerging filmmakers, mentored by 2 experienced producers. (Leonard Tee and Bianca Balbuena)
Aims to nurture producers who can bring the Malaysian cinema to the world stage and make the film made. At the end of the workshop, all five projects will be ready to apply for the international project market and seek for potential funders.
