The Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators (MAVA) established the high bar of excellence in career/vocational technical education (CVTE). Below is the criterion by which every school offering Chapter 74 CVTE programs in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts uses to nominate a student to represent his/her school at the state’s Outstanding CVTE Student of the Year recognition banquet.
A minimum of a 3.5 weighted cumulative grade point average
Technical competence in student’s career area of study
Excellent attendance
Leadership qualities
Work experience related to student’s career area of study
Extracurricular activities
Community involvement
How has the student supported the social/civic awareness/responsibility initiative (NPS Criteria).
