New Song Church New Member Guide
We welcome all of you with the love of our LORD.
To become a full member of our church you must complete the following process:
Welcome/Registration
Complete and submit registration form.
New Membr Orientation (OT)
During the 4-week orientation you will receive all the information needed to become a member. Upon completion, you will sign the ‘Member Pledge’, which entitles you to participate in the ministries and learning activities.
Join Mokjang
Also known as the “cell group” or “house church”, the Mokjang is the basic unit of Newsong Church. When you are settled in a Mokjang, you can say that you are settled in Newsong.
Welcome Celebration
Every two to three months we hold a celebratory dinner to welcome our new members. You will get to know each other and meet the pastors and your shepherd and shepherdess (i.e., your Mokjang leaders).
Talent Discovery
All New Song members are ministers of the church. Through the Talent Discovery Course (a part of Christian Life Study), you will discern your talent and decide which ministry to join. We ask everyone to regularly attend Sunday worship, to be an active member of a Mokjang, and to participate in the life of the church through service in one of our ministries.
Christian Life Bible Study
Each Fall and Spring, New Song offers a 12-week course of Christian Life Bible study. This is a mandatory course taught by the lead pastor. After you complete it, you are eligible to participate in other Bible study classes.
New Member Orientation Guide
New member orientation (OT) begins on the first week of every month and lasts for four weeks.
Week 1: Purpose of New Song Church
Week 2: Confirmation of Salvation
Week 3: Cell Group (Mokjang), New Song Worship
Week 4: Education, Ministry, Member Pledge
Families with children
While you are in OT, your children are welcome to attend the Korean Language School, which takes place at the same time in the Children’s Worship Room on the 1st floor.
After the session, lunch is provided for everyone at the Thomas Gym.
Following lunch, at 12 noon, children attend the Children’s Worship service and adults attend the regular Korean-language Worship service.
You may pick up children after the worship.
