The News Blast from the Past History and Religious Studies Collection/Journal is a student-led initiative at the University of Lethbridge. We are dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of both disciplines through the courses students have done. Our mission is to provide a platform for students to share their work through the digital publication of their research, critical analysis, and reviews that explore historical events, figures, and themes across all periods and regions taught at the university. This collection/journal aims to help promote a vibrant community where curious and aspiring students have an outlet to share their ideas and research with other students and professors in hopes to continue the conversation about the past and the reflections we see today.
In partnership with the Galt Museum and Archives, we were offered the chance to host a Colloquium featuring the best papers within out two edited editions along with a Community Highlight Paper. This is the a hopeful first step in a long relationship with the Galt Museum. Below are photos of our wonderful presenters.
Fall 2025s colloquium was theme was, Between Backayards and Borders. The idea was to hit on every level of history starting at the very local level, moving to provincial, and then jumping across oceans and continents.
Submissions for the Winter 2026 Edition are currently closed as we begin preparation for it.
