Primary Mexico gateway.
Traffic:
Automotive
Intermodal
International freight
South of Albuquerque, NMRL’s Southwest Subdivision supports one of the system’s most unique emerging traffic bases: the Spaceport America Industrial Spur.
Developed in partnership with state economic development initiatives, the spur extends west from the mainline near Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, providing direct rail access to the Spaceport America complex and adjacent aerospace-industrial facilities.
While passenger launch operations remain highway-supported, the rail connection was developed primarily for:
Heavy equipment delivery
Aerospace component transport
Fuel and industrial material handling
Construction and infrastructure traffic
Specialized oversize shipments
Santa Teresa Gateway
Near the international border, the subdivision enters Santa Teresa, one of the Southwest's fastest-growing logistics hubs.
Operations include:
International interchange
Automotive distribution
Cross-border manufacturing
Intermodal terminals
Warehousing
Foreign trade zone activity
Santa Teresa has become the NMRL's principal gateway for traffic moving between the United States and Mexico.
