Any information you think me as your guide needs to know about you/ your party feel free to let me know sooner than later ( medications, health issues, skill level, etc.)
We will adapt and accommodate to the clients needs, and we want you to feel at home!
Bring your home state hunting license or proof of a certified hunter safety course with you. Unfortunately Maine won't issue any licenses without one of the two. You can buy your license online before you get here through Maine's MOSES program (https://moses.informe.org/cgi-bin/online/moses_v3/index). This online option is easy and probably a better idea so you don't travel all the way here and find out you can't get a license/permit.
** You will NEED your BIG GAME LICENSE or ARCHERY LICENSE in order to get hunting permits ( bear, moose, etc)
** If you are Archery hunting and only purchase the Archery license you cannot carry a rifle in the woods!
Maine's weather can fluctuate so I would recommend bringing both cold and warm gear. Temps will run from 70-80 degrees during the day down to 40 degrees at night.
** HUNTING LICENSE + PERMITS
Bring snacks/ bottled water (there's local stores in town about 15 minutes away)
Bring extra footwear/ clothes!!
Rain gear wouldn't be a bad idea either with the amount of rain we have been getting
Cover scents/ no smelly clothes (cover scent is crucial while hunting here)
I'd also recommend being CAMO from the ground up (even a face mask or camo paint)
Thermacell (bugs can be thick sitting on a bear stand)
Coolers + extra one for mount/meat
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
I usually carry a BACKPACK with me consisting of ( protein bars, water, flashlights, extra batteries, GPS, whistle, compass, spare ammo, knife, little rope, radio, camera, binoculars, waterproof matches, and cover scent) I like to prepare for the unexpected because you just never know!!
Success rates for permit holders over the past 10 years have been over 70 percent – 73% in 2017. Every year, among those success stories are several moose exceeding 1,000 lbs. dressed weight; and trophy racks are not uncommon.

To hunt for bear prior to the firearms season on deer, a valid hunting license and a bear permit is required. The fee for this permit is:
If a non-resident wishes to hunt bear during the regular firearms season on deer, a late-season bear hunting permit and a valid hunting license is required. The fee for the late-season bear permit is $40.00 (plus agent fee).
Bear may be taken by use of rifle, handguns, muzzleloader, shotguns (with slugs only and not larger than 10 gauge), bow and arrow (with a minimum draw weight of 35 lbs.) or crossbow (with a minimum draw weight of 100 lbs.).
I would recommend if you're using a bow that you have a good shot due to these animals being very tough critters "shot placement will be crucial"
As for a rifle, personally I'd use something with some knocking power ( .270 Win. .30-06 Sprfld. .308 Win. .284 Win. .444 Marlin .280 Rem. .30-40 Krag. .348 Win. .303 British .8mm Mauser 7 x 57 mm. .300 Sav. .358 Win. 6.5cm ) Similar to moose recommendations
