Course Design Checklist




Higher and Standard Levels


Minimum of 6(HL) and 4(SL) works in total


❏  Minimum 2(HL) 1(SL) texts written originally in language studied from authors on the Prescribed Reading List (PRL).

❏  2 texts can be chosen freely from the PRL or elsewhere, and may be in translation.

❏  Minimum of 2 works for each of the Areas of Exploration

❏ Texts must be selected to cover 3/2 literary forms

❏ Texts must be selected to cover 3/2 periods

❏ Texts must be selected to cover 3/2 places as defined on the PRL covering at least 2 continents

❏ Variety of non-literary texts and forms

❏ Do you have enough “bodies of work” to allow for student choice for the IO and the Higher Level Essay

❏ A discussion of the conceptual understandings (identity, culture, creativity, communication, perspective, transformation and

representation)
