Hello there! Please note that New Heights Math is still a work in progress. Thank you for your patience!
Equity in education is predicated on the belief that ALL students can learn and focuses on ensuring that ALL students can access and participate in meaningful learning experiences. To uphold and sustain equity in the classroom, it requires that stakeholders "ensure that all students have access to a challenging mathematics curriculum, taught by skilled and effective teachers who differentiate instruction as needed; monitor student progress and make needed accommodations; and offer remediation or additional challenges when appropriate" (NCTM, n.d.). Further, equitable teaching should be responsive to students' backgrounds, experiences, cultural perspectives, traditions, and prior knowledge.
