PPE Donation for Students in Need in the New Haven Public Schools System
January 2022: Lions working together to put together 2,500 bags filled with face masks, hand sanitizer wipes and a winter hat or gloves. These will be distributed to children of identified need in the New Haven Public Schools system throughout all schools in the 15 neighborhoods in the City of New Haven. Also donated was 1,740 N95 masks for the teaching staff for NHPS.
This was a $10K grant from Yale University through their Yale Community for New Haven Fund (COVID-19 focus) granted to the New Haven Lions along with an additional $5K donated by the club! A total of $15K COVID-19 related products infused to into the New Haven Community at a time when its needed!
The New Haven Lions want to extend a huge "Thank You" to Yale University and the Yale Community for New Haven Fund for their trust in our club to give us this grant to serve our New Haven Community. We look forward to other opportunities to serve New Haven in collaboration with Yale.
Additionally, we are looking forward to our newly formed collaboration with the New Haven Public Schools system. The Haven Lions and Lions International have programs and resources to help NHPS in many ways.
Plus we'd like to do a shout out to two great vendors who went out of their way to support this service project with outstanding customer service, pricing, delivery and commitment! Thanks to N & D Sports (@nanddsports) of Hamden and Blue Bear Protection of NYC (@BlueBearUSA) - You both have the service heart of a Lion!

January 2022: The New Haven Lions Club donated $125 to each of the six (6) libraries of the New Haven Free Public Library system for them to purchase books off the provided lists of African American and Latino as part of our Multiple District 23 diversity and inclusion community service project for elementary and middle school students.
This enrichment program under girds CT PA 10-12, An Act Concerning the Inclusion of African American & Latino Studies in the Public School Curriculum.
The $125 donation went to the each of following library branches ($750 in total):
Fair Haven, Main, Mitchell, NHFPL, Stetson and Wilson.
We thank Lion Jay Farrell who coordinated this service project on behalf of the New Haven Lions Club.
December 2021: New Haven Lion Jay Farrell is a school social worker and uses the Lions QUEST program in her Social/Emotional Learning classes that she does with in grades Kindergarten through 4th grade at Seth Haley Elementary School in West Haven. She is the Lions QUEST Chairman for CT District 23A which serves New Haven and Fairfield Counties.
This project has been done for 10 years and this year the 350 students made 407 cards! As a special 'thank you' this year, Mrs. Farrell brought in on December 20th, Army Sargent 1st Class Michael Finnegan, A West Haven native and New Haven Lions President Lion Kamor Olasebekian, an administrator at the Veteran's Hospital. They visited 20 classrooms and answered questions about like it is for Veterans to be in the hospital and life in the military and oversees missions. They visited for 4 hours!

For the 34th consecutive year, New Haven Lions (and friends of the Lions) volunteered their time to staff collection kettles for the Salvation Army. Our two Saturday dates were December 4th and December 11th. Thank you to Lions Jim and Joan B., Deja, C., Gloria C., Ann Marie H., Kamor O., and Jim and Gail T. (with Pam M. making a brief appearance), Janice F., Marlene H. (and her friend Terry S.). A total of $1,997.28 was collected for the Salvation Army!
