New Haven Lions Club was established on February 9, 1922, and for 100 years we have been working to serve our community with community service, civic involvement and charitable contributions to the City of New Haven. We are the second oldest Lions club in Connecticut. New Haven Lions Club provides monetary support to local civic and charity organizations. We have raised more than $717,000 in charitable contributions. In 1975 we created the One-To-One Program where partnerships are formed between a blind and seeing person. Together, these pairs attend events together throughout the year. Also, we provide free eye screenings to young children in the New Haven School system. We are dedicated to inspiring the vision of New Haven residents, helping them to see a better life for themselves. We are also known for Camp Cedarcrest, 42 acres of grounds in Orange, CT. Together with four other service organizations and the New Haven Dept. of Parks, Recreation and Trees, provide this spot for the community to enjoy. Beyond the town, we regularly supports Lions District activities in the State of Connecticut, such as Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation (CLERF), Lions Eye Health & Screening Program (LEHP), Lions Low vision, Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, Connecticut Radio Information Service (CRIS) and Diabetes Awareness. We continue to support the international charity activities sponsored by Lions Clubs International (LCI) through its charity foundation (LCIF). New Haven Lions Club contributes generously to LCIF’s major relief efforts It continues to contribute to LCI’s world-wide efforts on maintenance of eye health and preservation of sight related activities.
