New Haven Register Fresh Air Fund

The New Haven Register Fresh Air Fund was started in 1905 by John Day Jackson, then the owner and publisher of the New Haven Register. The purpose of the fund was to help provide outdoor camping experiences for children in Greater New Haven. Since then, the fund has sent more than 35,000 underprivileged children in Greater New Haven to camp. The Register administers the fund and absorbs all administrative and marketing costs, so 100 percent of all donations go to sending children to camp.
