What is a brainstorming session?

This one-hour session aims to help junior researchers in economics generate and refine research ideas while fostering collaborations. Participants will discuss research questions, data, methods, and policy implications, and network with potential collaborators.

Preparations: You will share research summaries in advance to the participants in the brainstorming session.

Focus: There will be guiding questions prepared in advance to direct discussions. 

Breakout Groups: Organize by research interests for deeper discussion. 

Moderation: There will be one faculty member per group moderating the discussion. Ensuring equal participation with time management..

Session Structure: 

1. Introduction (5 mins): Outline objectives and format.

2. Research Summaries (10 mins): Two presenters, 5 mins each.

3. Breakout Discussions (30 mins): Small groups refine research ideas. 

4. Summary (10 mins): Share key points, exchange contacts, and set follow-ups. 

5. Conclusion (5 mins): Moderator wraps up and shares next steps.
