Umeå University
We are pleased to invite you to the first-ever Early Career* Workshop in Economics at Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics in March 2025. This workshop is open for every early career researcher affiliated with a Nordic University.
This event offers a unique opportunity to enhance your presentation skills in a safe and encouraging environment. It will also give opportunities for new ideas to prosper in our special slot called "Brainstorming", where you present research ideas in the early stages and discuss them in an open environment. This will give opportunities to anyone, in any stage of their early career.
Attending this workshop you will have the opportunity to:
Present your research in either the brainstorming session or in longer timeslots.
Receive a discussant who can give valuable feedback on your work.
Be a discussant with another presenter, which will give you the opportunity to exercise constructive criticism.
Listen to presentations from our two keynote speakers.
Network with Early Career Researchers from other Nordic universities.
The workshop runs for two days and each day will start with a keynote speaker followed by parallel sessions throughout the day.
In these parallel sessions, you will be matched with others based on either your research topic or your method/model.
You will also receive a discussant, and have the opportunity to be a discussant yourself. There will also be a faculty member from the department present, functioning as a moderator of the discussions.
The workshop is free of charge and coffee, snacks, and lunch for both days will be provided. There will be a workshop dinner on the first evening at an excellent venue serving local dishes. In addition to this, you will also be provided accommodation for two nights.
We also hope that you will stay and experience Umeå during the weekend, the spring-winter is great up here!
We would like to invite submissions from all fields of economics, including early-stage work for the brainstorming session.
For the regular presentation slots, papers can be submitted as extended abstracts, drafts, or working papers.
For the brainstorming sessions, ideas can be submitted as an abstract.
We will prioritize participants affiliated with the Nordic universities and/or researchers working on Nordic data.
Additional applicants will be considered if space permits.
