We believe modern Christianity has gotten so far away from the Christianity taught by Jesus that he would not recognize it.
God is within you. God is the goodness in everyone. Jesus gave us a new interpretation of God. It is through him we now see God today. Collectively, we have the ability to discern what is of God, what is not and act accordingly.
The Bible is the imperfect writings of fallible human beings seeking God, a God of compassion and love as revealed through Jesus Christ. It teaches us that when we seek God first and care for one another, we can have abundant life here on Earth, here and now.
A monastery is a type of intentional community where people withdraw from the world to try to live the way God intended us to live seeking God first and caring for one another. Monasteries have proven to be very durable communities. Some have been in existence for over a thousand years.
The church is the network of individuals and communities who have committed to seeking God in everything we do and to be a blessing to not only each other, but also to the people around us who are in pain and in need of comfort.
Foundations
The document below contains not only the vision for New Covenant House as a manifestation of the teachings of Jesus, but also the rationale for it.
The vision to love God and each other is the foundation for this community. That will never change.
What may and probably will change are the details about how we live that out in our daily lives. Hence, it is a living document and it may change from time to time.
Summary
In order for you to quickly make a determination whether New Covenant House is for you, here is a summary with the most important points in the Foundations document above.
We believe that God’s will for us is the restoration of the Garden of Eden, the Kingdom of God, a New Jerusalem.
We believe that for this to happen, we must recognize and eliminate our own selfish desires and surrender to the will of God. Love God.
We believe our purpose in life is to be a blessing for everyone else. Love one another.
