Cerata of Berghia Regenerate After Autotomy
Cerata of Berghia Regenerate After Autotomy
After autotomization, regenerating cerata in Berghia stephanieae can be seen after just a couple of days.
Cerata regenerate at an average of 0.09 mm/day.
Cerata regain ~90% of original length within 23-24 days. (Dotted green line represents the average starting length of cerata prior to autotomization and the green box represents the standard deviation of this mean.)

H3P Labeling Indicates Cell Division Early During Regeneration
At four hours after removal of rhinophores, in Berghia, immunohistochemistry with antibodies to H3P indicates numerous cells undergoing cell division (green dots).
