Tomas Jordan, a newly minted PhD student from Geoff Luke's lab at Dartmouth College, will be presenting on our ultrasound work in Aplysia. His presentation is titled "Ultrasound neurostimulation in ex vivo sea slug brains".
Six NEC undergraduates will present their research at the NH-INBRE Annual Conference at the Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, NH. These presentations will include research on circadian rhythms, extraocular photoreception, molecular junctions, and regeneration.
Jim was invited to speak at the Modern Advances in Mollusc Behaviour Symposium. He gave a presentation titled "Circadian rhythms and the influence of light on the behavior of nudibranchs".
During the summer of 2021, six students (pictured to the left) will be working in our lab as part of NEC's NH-INBRE-funded Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURP). This will culminate with each of them presenting their work at the 2021 NH-INBRE Annual Conference, at the Omni Mount Washington Resort in August.
May, 2021 - New publication!
Integrative Organismal Biology has accepted our manuscript, titled "The digestive diverticula in the carnivorous nudibranch, Melibe leonina, do not contain photosynthetic symbionts". The in-press version can be found here.
Jan. 2021 - Jim joins IOB Editorial Board
Jim started a three-year tenure as an Associate Editor for Integrative Organismal Biology, the relatively new open access journal for the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology.
Jan. 2021 - Jim chairs DNNSB
Jim started a three-year tenure as Chair of SICB's Division of Neurobiology, Neuroethology, and Sensory Biology.
Our lab presented two posters at the virtual SICB conference. Jim had a poster titled "Minimally invasive neural stimulation via ultrasound and piezoelectric nanoparticles" and Minnie presented "Regeneration of autotomized cerata in Berghia stephanieae".
