The next session of our virtual talk series is planned for April – stay tuned!
Virtual Talk: Leading in Hybrid Environments
The microcommunity recently hosted a virtual talk on Hybrid Work, Leadership, and Collaboration with Florian Kunze from the University of Konstanz.
Drawing on empirical insights from the Konstanzer Home Office Study and international research, the session explored how hybrid work arrangements are reshaping leadership practices, managerial challenges, and patterns of collaboration in organizations. The talk sparked a lively exchange among researchers and practitioners, with discussions centering on leadership sensemaking, control and trust, and the long-term implications of hybrid work for organizing.
The event concluded with an interactive reflection, highlighting the importance of rethinking time, space, and leadership in the evolving world of work.
In this first engaging session of the Microcommunity New Ways of Working – Rethinking Time and Space virtual talk series, Dr. Sally Augustin – an internationally recognized environmental psychologist – shared science-based insights into how built environments shape human behavior. She highlighted how thoughtful design principles can help organizations create spaces that foster innovation, support well-being, and enable more creative work.
At the AOM Meeting in Copenhagen, Ann Sophie and Amelie kicked off the newly established AOM OB microcommunity at the time, then called Workplace – Rethinking Where Work Happens. The gathering brought together researchers interested in how physical, digital, and hybrid work environments shape employee experiences, team dynamics, and organizational outcomes.
Held on July 29 at the Copenhagen Botanical Gardens, the session created a welcoming space for scholars studying topics such as flexible office design, hybrid work coordination, and the psychological impact of remote work. Participants connected, exchanged emerging ideas, and explored opportunities for future collaboration, laying the foundation for a growing, engaged community.
