I have tried to download ie6 from the site: _explorer.php but it does not install since it detects that a more recent version is already installed! I have tried removing ies4linux, ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Internet Explorer/iexplore.exe and wine_gecko but still the error (more recent version installed) remains. How can I solve this problem and install ie6 from this site in wine? Also could someone please confirm that this will be legal. Thanks for your help.

I installed with winetricks as mentioned above (violetpill). The internet explorer installed well and now opens well with the command mentioned above. However, on loading this page, following error is there:

Manage Add-ons in Internet Explorer lets you view, turn on, and turn off the list of add-ons that can be loaded by Internet Explorer. Add-ons you can manage include browser helper objects, ActiveX controls, toolbar extensions, explorer bars, browser extensions, search providers, Accelerators, and Tracking Protection settings.

Older versions of Internet Explorer have security problems which will never be fixed and using it will leave you vulnerable to all sorts of problems on the internet. Many websites, such as Facebook, Youtube and Gmail are no longer supporting old versions of Internet Explorer.

On June 15, 2022, Microsoft finally killed the much maligned Internet Explorer. However, despite its criticisms, it introduced the internet to millions. As Windows took the lion's share of personal computers during the '90s and 2000s, so did the pre-installed browser.

However, as time passed, better alternatives like Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome emerged. Eventually, even Microsoft developed another browser called Microsoft Edge, supplanting Internet Explorer as Window's primary internet browser.

This version is Microsoft's second release for their internet browser and was also the first version to support Apple Macintosh and PowerPCs. Microsoft also developed Internet Explorer 2, so it could support up to 24 languages, including Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

The fourth IE version was the first to integrate the desktop experience with the internet, thus enabling Window's Active Desktop. This feature is similar to Windows 11's Widgets, where users can add online content to their desktop via IE4.

IE7 is also the first browser to feature Delete Browsing History, which clears your cache, history, cookies, saved data, and passwords in a single click. You can then use this to clear your information on the browser if you're using a public terminal or internet caf.

Internet Explorer had an astounding 28-year run, installing it in varying Windows OSes from Windows 3.1 to Windows 10. Although the internet browser now has a bad reputation, mainly brought by the failures of IE6 when it was at its peak, we cannot ignore the immense impact of its legacy.

This browser introduced several technologies still in use today, including cookies, SSL protocols, Automatic Tab-Crash Recovery, and more. And despite its failings, we cannot discount that at least three generations discovered the internet with Internet Explorer.

Today, the usage of IE11 in the world is around 6% of total internet users. Surprisingly, it is still more used than Safari. Whatever the reason, if your website visitors include users that use this browser, you will need to spend more time adapting your code so it works appropriately.

Since rebuilding our Parent VM using ViewAgent 6.0.2.2331487 we have experienced issues while launching internet explorer. We have managed to find 2 ways to get IE to launch; a)run IE as administrator or b)disable UAC. I have since then reverted back to ViewAgent 6.0.1.2089044 and everything is back to normal. 0852c4b9a8
