TO BRIDGE THE LANGUAGE BARRIER AMONG REFUGEES AND NATIONALS
What We Do
In Digital Literacy Training: We offer comprehensive digital literacy courses tailored for women and youth in Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement and we have already taught 23 people in the kaihora zone and 19 youths
In Skills Development: Our programs cover basic computer skills, internet usage, and software applications to empower individuals for future opportunities.
In Community Engagement: We foster a supportive learning environment through community involvement and peer-to-peer mentoring.
WE DONT STOP HERE WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO EXPAND OUR COMPUTER TRAINING IN RWAMWANJA AND WE NEED TO HAVE AT LEAST 30 ICT TRAINING SCHOOLS IN THE RWAMWANJA REFUGEE SETTLEMENT SINCE MANY OF OUR SCHOLARS COME WHEN THEY ARE ILLITERATE BUT THE CHALLENGE WE ARE FACING IS THAT
WE LACK COMPUTERS WHICH LIMITS US FROM REACHING A LARGE NUMBER OF SCHOLARS
WE ALSO NEED THE INTERNET FOR BETTER ONLINE SESSIONS AND TO CREATE A DIGITAL WORLD 🗺
WE STILL NEED ROAMS FOR TRAINING BECAUSE THE CLASSROOMS THAT WE ARE HAVING ARE NOT IN GOOD CONDITION AND THEY ARE NOT ENOUGH FOR ENGLISH AND ICT
How We Do It
Hands-On Workshops: We conduct interactive workshops using accessible technology to ensure practical learning experiences and
Customized Curriculum: Our curriculum is designed to meet the specific needs and challenges faced by refugees, promoting inclusive education and
Collaborative Learning: We encourage collaboration among participants, leveraging collective knowledge and experiences.
Why We Do It
Addressing Digital Illiteracy: Many refugee women and youth lack access to digital resources, limiting their opportunities for education and employment.
we are empowering Communities: By equipping individuals with digital skills, we empower them to navigate the digital world independently and confidently.
how we are promoting Communication: Improved digital literacy fosters better communication within organizations and with external partners, enhancing collaboration and productivity. Reporting a right thing at a right place in the right time for communication and documentation
New Light of Youth is dedicated to creating a brighter future for Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement by empowering its women and youth through digital literacy and bridging the communication gap between refugees and nationals.
We can bridge the digital divide and build a more inclusive and connected community.
