Official admission to student teaching (those who meet the course and Praxis II requirements) will occur on Friday, January 9th at the Teacher Education Committee meeting. Remember, all requirements for student teaching must be met prior to the beginning of student teaching on January 2nd. These include:
No incompletes in any course,
Successful completion of all methods courses which includes a recommendation by your methods supervisor,
No grade below a “C” in any Professional Course,
Music majors must pass the piano proficiency test and be recommended by the School of Music before beginning student teaching, and
No other courses may be taken during or after this final student teaching semester without express written permission from the Teacher Education Committee. Any appeal for consideration must be submitted by the candidate, with accompanying support from the academic advisor, prior to or in conjunction with the student’s application for student teaching.
*****Limited campus activities including sports, club activities, jobs, etc., may occur during the student teaching semester. If you plan to be involved in some campus activities or work during student teaching, you must contact Mrs. Erb at lerb@leeuniversity.edu no later than December 13th. Some exceptions may apply but must be put in writing and approved by the Teacher Education Committee. Use the attachment as your guide. Please send your requests to Mrs. Erb by the above date. Please note that the Teacher Education Committee or myself have the right to deny your request or ask you to modify your request if we feel it will negatively impact your ST experience.
