For the challenge we can chose any concept from life sciences, physics, or math, and personnally I narrowed my choices to life sciences or physics. In the six topics I had selected, only two were life sciences, COVID-19 and cerebral organoids.
I watched Hillary's video to help me select a topic, she provided a lot of help with her advice and tips. I also used various science websites like National Geographic to find interesting topics.
I would also recommend to chose a topic which you are passionate about since it would help you be engagin when you are talking in you video. Personally, I was fascinated by cerebral organoids since I was always interested in the brain and biomedical research.
In addition, I checked the preivous finalists' videos on the Breakthrough Challenge website in order to chose a topic which was not generic or common.
Then, I put red stars next to the topic which has never been done before, this allowed me to finilaize my topic to neurulation and cerebral organoids.
The pictures below display my research and planning stage for the challenge. In my opinion, this was the most diffcult stage since we needed to find reliable sources with quality information.
