Statement on Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, Belonging, Justice, and the Existence of Models
Neuro Logic is committed to an environment in which every member can bring their whole self, their whole axiom system, and their whole unfinished lemma to the Community. We recognize that classical logic has historically occupied a position of axiomatic privilege, and that intuitionists, relevantists, paraconsistentists, and people who still use Principia notation have been underrepresented in the canon, the citations, and the coffee line.
Equity is not equality. Equality would give every member the same number of questions after a talk. Equity gives more questions to those the Board has identified as historically interrupted, and none to people we do not like.
We acknowledge the following:
- The empty set is unceded.
- The axiom of choice is a structural advantage.
- Excluded middle can feel exclusionary to those who have not been granted it.
- Impact matters more than intent, except when the impact would inconvenience a person we like, in which case we return to intent and hold it there.
- Lived experience is a valid source of knowledge. It is not, however, a valid source of a completeness theorem, unless the Board says it is.
- Representation matters. Every committee shall contain at least one constructivist, or a note explaining why a constructivist could not be exhibited.
Members are expected to do the work. “The work” is defined as whatever the Board is currently disappointed that you have not done. Doing the work does not terminate. Progress is ongoing and non-measurable, which we consider a feature.
