6. Outdoor planting and water saving

All the outdoor plants were chosen to have low water requirements in our climate zone. A water collection system from the roof was installed to gather rain water for watering the flower garden, herb garden, vegetable garden, and fruit trees. There is a 625 gallon tank under the deck used to water the front flower bed and herb garden and for the behind the house the flower beds. This is pumped to the front yard with a 12 volt dc diaphragm pump and gravity fed to the back flower beds.  There is a 1650 gallon tank hidden behind the garage for the fruit trees and raised garden beds. This is all gravity fed. The drive way is made of pervious pavers and directs water run off away from the gardens and to the sides of the house.
