On November 10, 2023, academic classes began under the project "European Experience in Combating Disinformation and Propaganda: Basic Skills for the Teacher of the Future". To better understand the EU's information policy and Ukraine's role in this process, it is advisable to understand that the European Union is a supranational structure, how it is organized, how it functions, and how major political decisions are made. Therefore, the project's first module is dedicated to studying the history of the EU, its structures, the basics of culture and, in particular, information policy, and the challenges that Ukraine must overcome on its way to European integration.
During the first lectures, Maryna Keda, the expert, discussed the idea of European unity, fundamental European values, the creation and enlargement of the EU, the reasons for Brexit, and the Copenhagen membership criteria.
The audience discussed the problem of why young people in Ukraine do not want to participate in elections actively and how important it is to ensure democratic processes in the country.
At the beginning of November (November 9), the project group met to discuss the basic concept, thematic plan, meeting schedule, and selected basic materials and visuals. On November 11, the club was opened and the first meeting was held with the topic "Softskills: Why it is important to be creative and have a flexible mind nowadays." The Club will meet twice a month with different student groups and will spend an hour investigating the topics planned in the Clubs' program.
In April, the 3rd content module of the training course for master's students of the Faculty of Philology began. We study critical thinking and media literacy: EUROPEAN EXPERIENCE OF EDUCATIONAL PRACTICES. MODERN METHODS FOR THE TEACHER OF THE FUTURE.
Our team has successfully completed the first semester of the second year of teaching the course 'European Practices in Combating Disinformation and Propaganda: Skills for the Teacher of the Future'. This brings us to the equator, one year and a half into the grant programme. We are thrilled to share our team's latest achievement- the approval of a textbook by the Academic Council of National University 'Chernihiv Colehium' in November. The study guide, carefully structured under the course content modules, features a practical glossary for each topic, a comprehensive theoretical overview of key issues, excerpts from original primary sources, and practical tasks for each module. The inclusion of practical cases and the training course programme underscores the guide's applicability. As we move forward, we are already working on a comprehensive guide that will be a valuable resource for all.
