FOR THIS YEAR:
Golf carts: Coaches, competitors or spectators over the age of 16 with drivers license may drive golf carts per HPSP policy. Carts are FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED; contact HPSP to reserve.
Novice clinic: We will host a shooting clinic Saturday morning starting at 8am for Sporting Clays, Trap and/or Skeet - $25 entry fee per participant.
Shooting up: Previous Novice and Intermediate champions are required to "shoot up" to the next division. For example, if you were the Novice Division Champion in 2025, you are required to compete in the Intermediate Division in 2025. Advanced Division champions are required to compete in the Advanced Division.
Advanced Division and National Competition: Shooters MUST register in the Advanced Division to apply for National Competition. However, shooters can still compete in the Advanced Division if they are not interested in registering for Nationals.
College Teams: None may register for the State Competition if they are actively participating in a College Shotgun Team or on a professional shotgun Team.
No Electronics allowed on the firing line including, but not limited to: Electronic Hearing Protection, Video/Camera Eye protection, shot camera devices, smart watches and cell phones.
Coaching participants while engaging in a skill is prohibited.
Resting a firearm on the participant's feet while at the firing line is prohibited. Trap/Skeet Barrel Protection Pads are approved only while the action of the firearm is open and clear.
A food truck will be onsite Sunday for lunch.

8:00-finish: Intermediate and Advanced competition, awards to follow competition.
We will host a 2 day shoot. Novice shooters will compete on Saturday and the Intermediate and Advanced divisions will compete on Sunday. Competitors can only advance up in the divisions and not return to a lower division once they have competed in that division. Previous top individuals in the Novice and Intermediate divisions must advance up to the next division the following year.
A brief coaches meeting will be held at 12:15pm on Saturday and 7:15am on Sunday, shooting begins promptly at 8:00am (or sooner)
Per 4-H policy, appropriate dress is required for all shooters. Open-toed shoes, shirts with inappropriate graphics/text, or inappropriate length shorts will not be allowed. A 4-H clover is requested but not required.
National Team application process: The Nebraska National Shotgun Team will be based on state competition score, the Nebraska 4-H National Shotgun Team Application and contact information for two references for recommendation. State Competition adheres to the rules set by ATA/NSSA/NSCA handbook, whomever is most restricted. Failure to adhere to the rules set forth, may cause loss of participant's registration fee and loss of trophies and medals awarded for this competition. Squadding:
Novice and Intermediate: Novice and Intermediate self-squadding will be part of online registration. Prior to registration, check squadding and select a squad that has enough space for the shooter(s). No squadding requests will be granted, but corrections will be allowed. Advanced division: The Advanced division will continue to be random-squadded. This decision was based on the random squadding at the National Championships and the 4-H goal of meeting new people.
Pulling/Scoring: Coaches and parents may be asked to pull/score for different events. An effort will be made to place coach/parent volunteers on squad that are not made entirely up of shooters from their club. Please bring bring an experienced volunteer.
Check-in: Shooters and coaches do not need to check in prior to shooting. Shooters will report to their range a minimum of 15 minutes early. Any last-minute cancellations or changes must be made by coaches before the shoot begins.
Only factory ammunition will be allowed for practice or competition. A maximum of 12 gauge with shot size 7½-9 and a maximum shot charge of 1⅛ oz are acceptable for all events. Velocity limits will follow ATA, NSCA, and NSSA regulations.
In order to maintain range cleanliness, shell catchers/range belts with a bag will be required for trap. ALL shooters will help clean the ranges during final score entry.
SAFETY FIRST! Shooters will be asked to leave the range for any misconduct. This can be personal or with a firearm. All shooters must have eye & ear protection while firing on the range. All shotguns need to have actions open unless you are on the firing line.
Novice and Intermediate Divisions: $60 (Novice), $60 (Intermediate) registration by September 3rd. A Late Fee of $25 applies after this date. Shooter must be at least 10 years old before January 1 of the current year and currently enrolled in the 4-H Shotgun project under a certified 4-H Shotgun Instructor. Competition consists of: 50 trap targets from the 16yd line, 50 skeet targets, 50 sporting clays targets. Coaches/parents are encouraged to assist novice shooters at the firing line as long as coaching is kept to a minimum and does not interfere with other shooters or shoot progression. Squadding requests will be part of online registration. No team awards.

Shooters will be given 15 minutes to replace an irreparable firearm, the shoot will progress without the squad member at the end of 15 minutes. Shooter will be given the opportunity to make up missed targets at the discretion of the Match Directors. Failure to fire guidelines will follow the ATA/NSSA/NSCA handbook.
Shooters will not delay the shoot schedule. Squads will be given 45 minutes to shoot 50 skeet targets. Slow squads will exit the field at the request of the event staff so the shoot can progress. Slow squads will finish their round(s) at the discretion of the Match Directors.

Shooter must be 14 to 18 years old before January 1 of the current year and currently enrolled in the 4-H Shotgun project under a certified 4-H Shotgun Instructor. Any competitor is encouraged to compete in the Advanced Division, not just applicants whom are interested in Nationals. National Shotgun Applicants are required to list for the Advance Division. By selecting the Advanced division, the competitor acknowledges eligibility for the National Team selection. Top four eligible Advanced Division shooters are asked to to represent Nebraska at the 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships the following year. Shooters are asked to be prepared to commit to the 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships by November 1st. Shooters will be randomly squadded. No team awards.

A $25 late fee will be applied to all late registrations, late registration payment must be brought to shoot. Please bring exact amount, no change available at shoot office.
