Procedure Sequence: Save the model calculation steps
Click Calculate
Click Procedure Sequence
Click on Zones to turn on the zones layer
Right-click the Zones layer and select Edit graphic parameters
Navigate to Zones → Display
Select Uniform display
Select Draw object, Draw point object and Draw surfaces
Click OK
Click Connectors layer to turn on the connectors layer
Right-click Connectors, under Graphic parameters click on Display
Navigate to Connectors → Display
Select Uniform display and Draw object
Click OK
Click on Zones to turn on the zones layer
Click on the “+” sign to turn on Insert Mode
Zoom in to the location for the new zone and click once, then the center of the zone will be added to network
Set the boundary of the zone by consecutive clicks (counterclockwise) around the zone number
Press Enter to confirm the new zone placement
Click on Zones to turn on the zones layer
Click on Edit Mode
Click and drag the points to adjust zonal area
Zone is adjusted
(Note: please refer to the next section on how to edit the XY Coordinates of the node)
Right-click the Zones layer in Network Tool window and click List
Double-click X-coordinate and Y-coordinate to add the X-coordinate and Y-coordinate to the list
Click OK to finish the attribute selection
Double-click the cell to change the coordination
Right-click Zones in the Network Tool window and click on List
The zonal data will appear in a table format
Find the TAZ number (row) and attribute name (column) and update the cell value
If you don’t see the attribute name you are looking for,
Click on the Select attributes… icon
Search for the attribute name
Select the attribute (hold on to CTRL and select multiple attributes at once)
Click on the green right-arrow to add the selected attributes to the table
Click OK
In the Network Tool window, click on Nodes to turn on the nodes layer
In the Network editor window, click on Insert mode
In the Network editor window, click where you want to insert the node
In the Network tool window, click on Links to turn on the links layer
In the Network editor window, click on Insert mode
In the Network editor window, click on the node to set the start of the new link (=From node)
Click on the node to set the end of the link (=End node)
The Create Link window will pop-up, click OK to create link (Link will be created for both directions, unless we select Close opposite direction)
New link is created
In the Network tool window, click on Links to turn on the links layer
In the Network editor window, click on Edit mode
In the Network editor window, right-click on the link and select Copy attributes
Right-click on the link and select Paste attributes
For two-way links, make sure to paste attributes to the other direction as well (*link direction is indicated by the arrow)
(Note: Please refer to next slide on how to check the link attributes for each link to make sure the attributes were pasted correctly.)
In the Network tool window, click on Links to turn on the links layer
Scroll up or down to zoom in or zoom out within the network
Double-click specific object in the network to review the detailed information
In the Network tool window, click on Connectors to turn on the connectors layer
In the Network editor window, click on Insert mode
Click on the centroid to set the starting point of the connector (=From node)
Click on the node to set the starting point of the connector (=From node)
Note: connector attributes can be copied the same way as links
In the Network tool window, click on the Stop points layer
In the Network editor window, click on Insert mode
Click on the node where you want to add new stops
Click on Lines in the Network Tool Window
Double-click on the specific line name
Find the Stop Point Number and uncheck the boxes for Board and Alight to remove the stop
Click on Lines in the Network Tool Window
Select the line name
Click on Zoom
In the Network Tool Window turn on the Nodes and Stop points layers
Zoom into the specific node to add the stop
Click on the “+” sign then click on the node
Click on Yes to confirm
8. Click on the select icon next to the “+” sign to exit Stop points editing mode
9. Click on Lines in the Network Tool Window
10. Double-click on the line name
11. Find the Stop Point Number (Node Number)
12. Check the boxes for Board and Alight to add this stop
In the Network Editor window, click the Insert mode symbol
In the Network Tool window, click the Lines button
Select Line to create a line, then click any area within the Network editor
Enter/Select line information: Name, Transportation system, Standard operator
Click OK
Select Line route to create a route for the line, then click any area within the Network editor
Enter/select route information: select Line, enter name and select direction
Press OK
9. Select Parameters
10. Select Use also closed links for routing
11. Click OK
12. Click and drag mouse from start stop to end stop
13. All stops can be added separately. Click Fix all profile points to save current route
14. Click and drag mouse again to preferred route
15. Click OK
16. Click Yes
Right-click Lines
Select Lists → Line routes
The added line routes should be in the list
In the Network window, open Turns list
Click on the TsysSet field
Select TsysSet and click OK
Example: Adding 100 households to a TAZ
Right-click Zones and click on List
Adjust the dwelling units and population number for the specific TAZ as needed
Example: Adding 500 employment to a TAZ
Right-click Zones and click on List
Adjust the employment number for the specific TAZ as needed
Adding 500 attractions to outlet mall
Navigate to Lists → User-defined tables → Table entries to open the table entry
Click on the top button above table (e.g. Area Type Definition)
Select the table SPGEN and click Confirm selection
Find the column VALUEA (attraction total) and DESCRIPTION of OUTLET MALL and change number from 0 to 500
Click on Lists → User-defined tables → Table entries
Select TOLLLINK table
Click on Confirm selection
Add a new record in the table and enter information; and the network will look up attribute values of FNODE and TNODE and add corresponding information to the network
Click File → Export → Shapefile..
Enter File name
Click Save to export the network
Select Nodes and Links to export to shapefile
Click OK
Shapefiles will be saved separately by layer
Click File → Import → Shapefile
Choose the Shapefile and click Open
Choose the Read as layer (e.g. links) and click OK
Click Generate to create user-defined attribute that are not allocated yet
Click OK
Copy a version file and rename the version file
Click Lists → User-defined tables → Table entries
Select the KEYS table → click on Confirm selection
Enter User-defined scenario name (VALUE) for the parameter SCENARIO_DIR (e.g. Base2020_S1)
Navigate to File - Project directories - Edit project directories
Click Set path for all types and navigate to the current model folder location
Navigate to Calculate, and then Procedure Sequence
Click on Set all active button to select all procedures
Confirm that all the procedures are checked
Click the Run button under Procedure Sequence to start model run
