Models
Here are pictures of the FIVE basic models produced over the production years, together with brief references to the differences which can help to identify them.
This is an early US model. It has a 13.5 cu.in/221cc 2-stroke engine. All cylinder fins are horizontal.
On VERY early models the carburettor faced forward, and the fuel filler cap was central on the fuel tank. Later ones had the carburettor on the left, and the filler cap was also on the left.

This is a later US model with a 15.5 cu.in/255cc engine. The crankcase is VERY different to the smaller one, and the fins are vertical at the cylinder top.
This is the early 221cc English Model A of 1921/22. It has identical engine dimensions to the early US model, but the cylinder is turned by a half-turn so that the inlet port is at the rear.
The chassis has minor differences from the US model, and the wheelbase is 3.5" longer.
The steering link system is slightly different, and the tyres are of smaller section.
This is an English Model B, introduced in 1923. It has a 285cc engine, but a virtually identical crankcase to the earlier English models. The distinguishing features are that it has a MUCH larger front mudguard, a tubular rear carrier rather than one of flat steel, and a single headlamp. The engine can be identified by a cover on the transfer port on the cylinder with entwined SS on it.
This is the English Model C, which had the biggest capacity. These were fitted with a 350cc Blackburne engine, and a conventional clutch/gearbox. The cycle parts are virtually identical to the Model B, but it has the larger-section tyres. The fuel tank was extended to take an oil tank on the right hand end - hence the two filler caps!
