Name composed by the union of the river Maas with the English word “tree”

A metaphorical figure of a tree situated on the banks of the river Maas.

It is conceived as an intelligent-multifunctional-modular-wooden object, which can act as a shelter and serve various purposes - landmark, fairground tent, exhibition pavilion, bus stop, train station, office, charging station, chill areas, sitting or meeting place, outdoor learning and much more. Just like a tree.

 Maastree can grow to different sizes and height, be planted grouped or scattered in the landscape, depending on its purpose and/or location.

As a concept for Randwijck, Maastrees will integrate this edge city into Maastricht, and connect the different elements in the neighborhood – hospital, residences, offices, industries, nature, the Maas. In the heart of Randwijck will grow the largest Maastree – a meeting place where residents, students, patients, visitors, tourists and entrepreneurs interact with one another.
