Shwathi, Nice to meet you yesterday!
put transcription for your article in a new page. Let's have this be our main page. there are more NEMO articles that you or other students could transcribe,
Just some ideas about other things that this page could eventually talk about:
The Washington Township - what it is
The towns mentioned in the articles - I think that most are the same as our districts. Vallejo's Mill is interesting having pretty much been destroyed by Mission Blvd, The park contains only one fragment,
Who was Captain Nemo - when was 20000 leagues under the sea book written. when did Captain Nemo first appear?
Is this where the author's pen-name came from?
Could use some of those great illustrations from the books
Theory that Charles Howard Shinn is our suspected NEMO. See Charlie's wikipedia page to check dates. How old was he when he would have read 2000L and when he wrote the article? Who else could it be?
For graphics
Check David Rumsey for pictures of houses, Merino Sheep, etc.
Maps on No.4 and no. 5 and also houses of people that are mentioned.
There is a real copy of Thompson&West in the Maurice Marks section of Fremont Main. And you might be able to check out that reprint that I showed you.
Cite your resources to help others find things.
Best places to look for newspaper articles:
CDNC is free, really great, but images are often missing.
newspapers.com - access free from the library?
newspaperarchive.com - Access free maybe also at the library?
I will find our Shinn family tree.
Some kind of an online map that you can put pins on to help the reader imagine better where the locations are.
