What is weatherization? Also called winterizing or weatherproofing, weatherization protects leaking buildings from outside elements: moisture, cold air in winter, hot/humid air in summer, sun, snow, and ice damage.
Why weatherize? Your home or business will feel more comfortable. You will save money by not wasting energy on heating and cooling. It can even prevent mold and mildew growth and ice dams, therefore potentially increasing your property's value.

What are the next steps? Once your home is free of leaks and comfortable season-round, it's a great time to install electric heat pumps. A heat pump essentially moves heat from one place to another by using electricity to power a fan and air compressor, which is as much as 3-5 times more efficient than generating heat by burning fossil fuels. That means heat pumps may save on monthly energy bills while reducing carbon and other air pollutants. Contrary to popular belief, heat pumps can also work in cold climates, because there’s some heat available even in very cold air. There are funds to support your investment in heat pumps as well as for the next step: installing solar.
