NHSaves Button Up Workshop
Make your home
more energy efficient
and save electric,
heating, and cooling costs.
The process starts with an interview with you, the homeowner, to help your approved Energy Contractor understand any concerns about your
home’s energy use and comfort. The contractor will inspect your home to determine where improvements are available, focusing on the building shell and including mechanical systems and refrigeration. Your contractor will also inspect your attic, basement, or crawlspace (if you have them) and run diagnostic tests to locate air leaks or use an infrared camera to find trouble spots. This service is a $500 value offered to qualified enrollees for just $100. If you decide to proceed with any audit recommendations, this fee will be deducted from the project cost.
After the assessment, your contractor will prepare a detailed work proposal outlining recommended improvements and incentives available. Once you decide which improvements to make, your contractor will get to work. The updates will be verified by another set of tests to show the difference the improvements have made. The work may also be spot-checked by independent third parties, so you can trust that the work will be done correctly.

Was held on a snowy Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM plus time for Q & A at the Nelson Library and on Zoom (recording above).
The workshop was presented by Andy Duncan, Energy Trainer & Certified Energy Auditor, with support from NHSaves in partnership with Nelson Clean Energy, the Nelson Library, and the Sullivan Conservation Commission.
The workshop helped attendees learn about energy efficiency, make smart energy choices, and take advantage of already available incentives. The presentation covered basic building science principles and examples of whole-house weatherization measures that will button up homes for the heating and cooling seasons. Andy Duncan also delved into the specifics of energy efficiency programs offered by NH utilities for both existing homes and new construction. These programs encompass energy audits, weatherization measures like air sealing and insulation, as well as rebates for modern technologies and products including electric and gas appliances, and high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment.
NHSaves is a collaboration of New Hampshire's electric and natural gas utilities working together to provide NH customers with information, incentives, and support designed to save energy, reduce costs, and protect our environment statewide.
Workshops are partially paid for by you! So take advantage of this opportunity, which you have already contributed to. Funding for NHSaves comes from a variety of sources, including contributions from electric and natural gas customer billing, proceeds from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) auctions, and earnings from participating in ISO-New England's Forward Capacity Market.
