Biography

Neil Heffernan is The William Smith Dean's Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Learning Sciences & Technology program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He developed ASSISTments, a web-based learning platform, to help teachers be more effective in their classrooms and to provide researchers with a way to study learning interventions. Before entering academia, Neil taught middle school math and science in Baltimore, MD, and he completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
