Hello! I'm Jessica Correa.
Your fellow neighbour and candidate for Otonabee Ward 1.
A lover of Peterborough.
And someone who’s chosen to build a life here.
I first moved here when I was 18 to attend Trent University from Oakville. I now hold double alumni status with a Master's Degree.
And like so many others… I never left.
Now, I can’t see myself leaving — because I fell in love with this city: its people, its spirit, and its potential — and I want to play a larger part in shaping that potential.
I live here with my husband, Raja — a Water Resources Engineer . He is a proud South Indian immigrant from Tamil-Nadu who just received his Canadian citizenship.
And of course, we live with our black lab, Koda 🐾.
We hope to raise a family someday in the very city that shaped us.
I bring something distinct to the Council table: the ability to connect deeply with residents while understanding how complex systems work.
For more than 10 years, I continue to build a career at the intersection of sustainability, project management, and community engagement. I have worked inside some of Canada’s leading food and consumer goods companies, navigating complex, matrixed organizations where progress depends on trust, influence, trade-offs, and practical action.
At the same time, my community engagement work has taught me how to listen, build community belonging, and understand what people are experiencing in their everyday lives.
Together, these experiences shape how I lead: by bringing people together, making thoughtful decisions, and turning ideas into action.
I bring experience in:
Managing competing priorities and measuring progress
Managing budgets and resources responsibly
Evaluating options rooted in data, facts, and evidence
Translating complex issues into actionable next steps
Coordinating large national projects with multiple stakeholders, building consensus, and negotiating outcomes
Balancing short-term needs with long-term outcomes
Communicating clearly and following through
Doing the hard work — not just talking about change, but making it happen
These skills translate directly to municipal leadership. I’m not coming to the table empty-handed — I’m coming prepared, with the warmth, experience, energy, and practical judgment to serve.

I also spent four years with Peterborough Toastmasters, where I learned to speak up and speak out when it matters most.
I’ve spent my career ideating big ideas, taking them and turning them into action, balancing priorities, navigating competing interests, and getting things done.
I’m ready to bring that approach to City Hall.
Too often, residents feel ignored or left out of the conversation. I believe leadership today should be:
Transparent
Present in the community
Focused on listening before leading
We need councillors who listens deeply, act collaboratively, and believes the best ideas come from the ground up—not the top down.
Peterborough is ready for leadership that reflects where we’re going—not just where we’ve been.
I’m running because I love this city — and because I know we can do better.
I believe the best ideas come from the people who live here.
I believe in collaboration, transparency, and leadership that builds with this community — not for it.
I’m running because it’s time for a new kind of councillor:
One who shows up.
One who communicates clearly.
One who works side-by-side with residents to move Peterborough forward — together.
I hope I’ve earned your vote — and shown you that I’m:
Rooted. Reliable. Ready.
