Fieldwork in Washington, D.C., April 2026
My research agenda examines processes of claims-making that shape the rights and resources immigrants have access to. Empirically, I focus on of immigration politics in the United States to examine how claims for protecting and expanding the rights of immigrants are made, and what the material and cultural consequences of such claims are, including processes of racialization. I take a global and transnational approach, tracing how interconnected legacies of empire shape possibilities and trajectories of rights struggles for immigrants in the diaspora.
