I am a scholar of international migration, racial formation, and the state, with a particular interest in immigration politics in the United States. I take a Du Boisian and transnational approach to examine how immigrants and their advocates make claims for rights, and how state actors respond to such claims. Broadly, I am interested in how rights are allocated for those without durable legal status, and what the political implications of these decisions are over time.Â
